On Wednesday, November 19th, at 6:30pm, there will be a meeting at the Webber Park Community Center to begin organizing a historical society representing the Camden neighborhood of Minneapolis. The group will build on the efforts of Buzzy Bohn and others in the Camden Community Historical Society, working towards 501(c)(3) status.
At the meeting, several items will be discussed:
- Introductions
- Why a Camden historical society? Why do we want 501(c)(3) status?
- Committees to brainstorm ideas regarding:
- Name of Organization
- Mission of Organization (Why should there be a historical society?)
- Membership (What constitutes a “member”?)
- Governance (Who should make up the Board? How many Board members?)
- Meetings (Where, when, and how often?)
The meeting should be wrapped up by 8:00pm. If you are interested in doing a little “pre-meeting” reading, please check out this linked document from the Minnesota Historical Society which the group will use as a template in its efforts to get the group organized.
