I’m looking forward to attending this event. Since moving to the neighborhood I’ve been absolutely appalled at the treatment I’ve received as a white man, much of it expressly and blatantly motivated by my race. It’s so rare that one can engage in a dialogue about this aspect of the racial dynamic in our community and not be verbally attacked or belittled. To date the majority of the discussions on race that I have participated in or observed have been not much more than a one way sludge pump for centuries of resentment and baggage onto white people in general. I sincerely hope that this event takes a more objective and wholistic approach to the racial dynamic than I’ve seen in the past.
